We have been working with Primal Strength on a Contract Logistics basis the last few months and we recently caught up with Operations Director Robert Shaw to see how things were going……

The business

Primal Strength is a small team of UK based fitness industry experts who design and install professional gym equipment for both personal and commercial use.

How it works?

Primal Strength design, import and distribute professional gym equipment across the UK and Europe. The company import products through a professional sea-freight company from China into our secure warehouse in Coatbridge. Primal Strength then sell their products through their website, telesales and field sales to people across UK and Europe.

Where do we come in?

We offer a storage and transport solution for Primal Strength. They rent 7,500sq ft   of warehouse space and as orders are processed we organise the delivery of part pallets of equipment to full loads for commercial gyms to their customers.

Benefit of being on-site?

Robert explained that there were major benefits of having everything under one roof; such as better business relationships by working face to face and as part of a team, efficiency and much more personal than dealing with complex situations by email or phone.

Our iconic red trucks have a new livery design!

We introduced a few changes in 2017, but the launch of the new livery officially marks the next step for us moving forward. We researched the market, went through various drafts of colours, styles and shapes before working with AST on the final design. The livery has been modernised to incorporate our new branding, allowing our fleet to stand out from the crowd.

We are delighted to say that the first units and trailers are now on the road in the UK and the remainder of the fleet will follow in due course.

A lot of thought and effort went into developing a new livery that both captured your attention and left a lasting memory. We are very happy with the result that showcases the progressive nature of our company. We look forward to gradually introducing the design across the fleet.

Stevie Stones has been with Currie Solutions for 40 years and today he made his last journey for us as he begins his retirement.

Stevie is the longest serving member of our team and has been an asset to the growth of Currie Solutions. He has worked within the office as European Transport manager and on the road across the UK and Europe as one of our long distance drivers.

He is well liked and appreciated by our customers and colleagues alike.

The Board of Directors thanked Stevie for his loyalty and work over the years. Allan Jamieson, Operations Director said:

“Stevie has been a valuable member of our team throughout the years. He has always been reliable, friendly and a team player who will be missed within the business”

On speaking to Stevie we asked what kept him in the job for so many years:

“European driving became my lifestyle as over the years I could be away for up to 3 weeks at a time across countries such as Russia, Scandinavia and the rest of Eastern Europe. I got to travel the length and breadth of Europe and I was always made welcome, met new friends and enjoyed the independence across there.”

After receiving his gifts from the company he expressed his gratitude

“I never expected to receive something as often people are forgotten in big companies such as this.”

Before leaving his truck for the last time, Stevie shared memories from the early days, the 24hr border crossings into Poland, his ice road trucker travels over the Alps in -40 degrees to the infamous Calais crossings and the day before digital.

Not many people know this but he once wrote a book of his travels for his children’s school, we hope that his retirement allows him to create a part 2!
