Currie Solutions stepping forward to support the next generation of our workforce
Kirstie Aitken, 22nd September 2017We are supporting the local governments new initiative “Developing the Young Workforce” to strengthen the links between schools, colleges and employers. The aim is to encourage more work- based learning and career pathways for all young people with a vision of reducing unemployment in Scotland by 40% in 2021.
We already support our own Modern Apprentices in various areas of our business and this is the next step forward for us to develop the next generation.
We have been working closely with one of the local High Schools and the first 5 week work placement partnership began last week in our boardroom with a group introduction to the business and the industry, specifically looking at the recruitment process, quality management system, health and safety followed by a tour of the premises. The subsequent 4 weeks will look at the following:
- Customer Service- Communication, operating Systems and KPI reporting
- Finance- Sales Invoicing, credit control, sales ledger and purchase ledger
- Business Systems- IT support and infrastructure, operational administration and cost control
- Operations- route/vehicle planning, tracking systems, vehicle maintenance and tachographs
